Short answer: Most gated societies in Gurgaon need four things before furniture can leave: a move-out or material-out permission from the facility office, a no-objection note from the owner if you are a tenant, a booked service-lift slot, and the crew and vehicle details for the gate pass. Apply three to four working days ahead and check the allowed timings.
If you have ever had a truck waiting outside while the guard refuses to let a sofa through the gate, you know why this guide exists. Gurgaon societies are strict about what leaves, and for good reason. Here is what to expect.
Why societies control material movement
Security staff check every item leaving a society to prevent theft from flats, protect common areas and lifts from damage, and make sure tenants do not leave with unpaid dues. The paperwork is annoying, but it protects you too.
What societies usually ask for
Rules differ from society to society, but these are the common ones.
1. Move-out or material-out permission
A form or email request to the facility or maintenance office with your flat number, date, timing and what is leaving. Some societies want an item list; others want a rough description.
2. Owner’s no-objection (for tenants)
If you rent, many societies need the owner to confirm that you are allowed to move goods out. Some check that maintenance dues are cleared first.
3. Service-lift booking
High-rises usually have a service lift that must be booked in a time slot. Some ask for a refundable deposit against damage, and many want lift walls padded during the move.
4. Gate pass with crew and vehicle details
Security usually wants the vehicle number, driver’s name and the names or ID details of the crew. These go on the gate pass.
5. Timings
Material movement is often limited to daytime hours on weekdays, sometimes with restrictions on Sundays and holidays.

More questions about society move-out rules
Do I need permission to move furniture out of my society in Gurgaon?
In most gated societies and high-rises, yes. The facility or maintenance office issues a move-out or material-out permission, and security checks items against it at the gate.
Does a tenant need the owner's NOC to move out?
Many societies ask for a no-objection note from the flat owner before a tenant's goods can leave, and some also check that maintenance dues are cleared. Ask your facility office what they need.
Can I move on a Sunday?
Some societies allow it, others restrict material movement on Sundays and holidays or only during set hours. Check the rules before you fix a date.
How long does the permission take?
Often a day or two, but it varies. Apply at least three to four working days before pickup to be safe.
